Recently, a taxi driver was killed nearby my house. He was in his mid-fifties, the father of 4 children, and devoted husband. A few days after, the Roseville Galleria Mall was set ablaze by a drug addict. Millions of dollars were lost and hundreds of people couldn't drive to their work trying to make their living. In our difficult economic situation of these days there are people who make things even worse. It didn't take a long time for my brain to picture outlaws who did these above-mentioned crimes as African Americans and guess what... it was right! These youngsters on the top right are the ones who killed the taxi driver. They were charged with murder, robbery and use of a firearm during a robbery. The picture below shows a gentleman who started a fire in the Galleria Mall. He was homeless and desperate. Setting a mall on fire was a "last case scenario" as he said. So, should I consider my notion about typical American criminals as prejudicial which has nothing to do with the reality or it depicts the true point?
Let's see the real picture of this case. Here's some raw information. As of 2008, African Americans make 12.84% of the US population according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Based on the same source and year, 60.21% out of all prisoners in the US are Blacks. 25.8% of Black Community lives below poverty line as of 2009. And here's one more statistic, in 1950s 72% of African American children grew up with both parents, but today of 70% of them live and grow without at least one parent (usually father). This ethnic group is deeply corrupted. Black Community hurts the rest of society - it hurts itself.
In order to change the course of the process of moral decay backwards, there has to be a volition amongst African Americans to transform their lives and start to build their integrity. If Blacks got sick of miserable life including promiscuous sex relationships, drugs, and gangs, if they are thirsty for justice, then other ethnic groups in America will support their efforts to rise up and help them to succeed. This is the only way how the United States may usher in better bright future and I believe that one day it will happen.
